Have you guys seen this trailer yet for “The Hangover Part III?” While giving very little in terms of plot specifics, it seems pretty clear in that this is going to be more than just a rehash of the previous two movies in this most unexpected of comedy film franchises. But just what the hell is this thing actually about?
Details are scarce on the internet, which this day and age, is quite refreshing. At one point in the trailer it sounds like Ed Helms’ character says someone should burn this place to the ground, and this is said over a shot of Las Vegas, so are we to assume that these three guys are setting out to burn down Las Vegas? That would be crazy, and is also alluded to in the Harry Potter spoofing poster that has been released. But this is also seems unlikely, and probably marketing misdirection, because that’s what marketing is, misdirection and lies and manipulation.
So then what the hell is this about? There’s a funeral. Looks like Zach Galifianakis’ character Alan’s dad dies, but what does that have to do with anything? John Goodman shows up and shoots someone, so he seems to be some sort of bad guy. And of course more Dr. Ken Jeong, along with the returning Heather Graham and Mike Epps. But that tells us nothing. There’s a rumor about this movie involving the guy’s at one point busting Alan out of a mental hospital, but I distinctly remember this being something Zach said he would thing would be interesting for a third film right after the second film came out before the script was written, so I would not be surprised if this rumor has persisted based on this one thing he threw out there a couple of years ago.
Then again, his beard is EXTRA scraggly in this one. So maybe he was in a mental ward. After his father died? Which is why he was able to buy that giraffe, because his rich dad left him money. Okay. So things are fitting together. Sort of. Or not really.
Ah fuck it. Just watch this trailer, see if you can spot Mike Tyson in the background somewhere, and then call it a day, because Memorial Day weekend is right around the corner anyway.
