Review: ‘Let’s Be Cops’

August 23, 2014 by Chris

lets-be-cops-posterLet’s not and say we did.

Seriously though, it couldn’t be worse timing for a movie like “Let’s Be Cops” to come out right now. Thanks to recent current events, and really due to the historical actions of police departments around this country, a comedy about a white guy getting a huge ego trip via abuse of power that can be afforded to him thanks to having a badge and a gun is just not appealing right now.

It doesn’t help that this feels like a movie straight out of the 1990s. It really is as hacky and unoriginal as it gets.

And they COULD have take some time to actually write a decent comedy that really does address what is happening in this country between the citizens and the police, especially how the police are perceived in certain communities and how they treat certain people, but instead they just want to make jokes about guys in cop uniforms smoking weed and the white guy of the group (because his “partner” is black) REALLY getting off on pretending to be a police officer.

Dumb. Really, seriously, horribly dumb.
